A ladies Morris dancing group who dances North West (style)- which comes from the North of England originally. Most of the dances are called name places, ie Crewe, Millbrook, Ashton. This means we dance out in clogs and most of our dances have patterns that involve straight lines and square pattern movement. We dance with small sticks with bells on and rope mollies.
The ladies and band are really friendly and it is an inclusive group, whether you have danced before or are a beginner, you will be made very welcome.
We meet from 8pm until 9.15pm every Wednesday during the winter, from October through to Easter at the United Reform Church behind Sainsburys in Wareham, Church Street, Wareham, Dorset, BH20 4HH
From Easter Bank Holiday (which is our first dance out of the season) onwards, we dance out throughout the local area every Wednesday, usually in or near Pubs, these can range from Swanage, Wool, Lulworth, Wareham, Lytchett. We also attend festivals and local events.
When dancing we collect money for a charity, last year was Dorset Air Ambulance and we raised over £900.00 in the few weeks we danced out.
The cost is currently £25 for the year, this covers the cost of the hall during the winter and the insurance costs for dancing, so is a very cheap way to keep fit.
If you want to get fit, or keep fit and meet some very nice friendly people, or you are looking for some thing local to do that gets you out to meet people, then you couldn’t find anything better than Dorset Buttons.
