The Isle of Purbeck Arts Club organises a variety of arts based activities for all to enjoy. From painting to poetry, or even just socialising with like-minded people, the club has something on offer for everyone. The club also funds tutored art workshops from time to time, but mutual support is the foundation. All abilities are welcome to join or to exhibit in our summer art exhibition.
Activities at the Purbeck Arts Club
The Poetry group meets on Zoom on the first Tuesday of the month at 6pm and in person on the third Thursday of the month at 11am at the Café on the pier – Subs are £10.00 a year. For more details please contact Sue at:- poetryworkshop.dorset@gmail.com
If you are interested in painting and drawing, the Studio Workshop meets on Tuesday mornings from 9.30am to 12.00pm at the large hall attached to the Catholic Church in Rempstone Road, Swanage BH19 1AH.
Abilities range from “I haven’t painted since I left school” to the more experienced, in a variety of different mediums including Watercolour, Acrylics and Oil Painting. Our indoor Winter Programme from October to the end of April includes Workshops and Life Model Drawing, conducted by experienced teachers of art and talented fellow members. So valuable for those who would like that bit of extra tuition. During the summer we run an outside Summer Programme at picturesque locations in and around Swanage. You are free to choose a suitable spot to paint and sketch.
So, if you fancy the idea of having a weekly dedicated location to explore your artistic abilities why not come along? Tea and coffee are available and you will be made to feel most welcome. For more details email Barry at studioworkshop.dorset@gmail.com
