The Rex Cinema Wareham

Dorset’s oldest running cinema!

Details

A gem in the centre of Wareham!

Originally the Oddfellows Hall, built in 1889 it opened as a cinema in 1927. In 2009 the Rex was taken over by the Purbeck Film Charitable Trust and with the help of the local community and council the cinema has been renovated whilst preserving its original 1920’s Art Deco interior.

With the latest technology in cinema projection and sound system. The cinema has its own bar and is one of the few cinemas where you can watch a film whilst enjoying a glass of wine or beer!

Run mostly by volunteers the Rex Cinema has a full programme of recently released movies as well as the screening of classic films! It also has regular screening of live theatre and ballet performances. Check out Wareham Tower Chime’s what’s on page for updated listings.
